In giallo i nuovi siti culturali 2016; in verde quelli naturali (UNESCO)
Si è conclusa bruscamente la 40° sessione del Comitato per il Patrimonio dell’Umanità, riunitasi a Istanbul per iscrivere dei nuovi patrimoni nella lista dei beni protetti dall’UNESCO.
Prevista dal 10 al 20 luglio, i fatti avvenuti in Turchia hanno accelerato la chiusura della sessione, presieduta da Lale Ülker, alla giornata di domenica 17 luglio. È stato dunque proposto di continuare i lavori nella sede UNESCO di Parigi ad ottobre.
Ad ogni modo, finora il Comitato ha aggiunto 21 nuovi siti alla lista: i beni protetti sono dunque 1052, in 165 paesi. Per la prima volta, Antigua e Barbuda e Micronesia ottengono un patrimonio UNESCO.
Il Comitato quest’anno era composto dai seguenti paesi: Angola, Azerbaijan, Burkina Faso, Croazia, Cuba, Finlandia, Indonesia, Giamaica, Kazakistan, Kuwait, Libano, Perù, Filippine, Polonia, Portogallo, Corea del Sud, Tunisia, Turchia, Tanzania, Vietnam, Zimbabwe.
